The German-Czech-Austrian co-production from director Juraj Herz won two awards at the Bavarian Film Prize ceremonies in Munich in January 2010. The Bavarian Film Prize is valued as one of the two most important Film Award ceremonies in Germany.
Herz won best director and German actor Mark Waschke won best actor in the film about a wealthy owner of a sawmill with a Jewish wife, in a story set in the Sudetenland region connecting Germany and the Czech Republic in WWII.
The special screening was visited by buyers and managements of US distributors and TV stations. Juraj Herz as well as Kai Grueneke presented the film personally in Tribeca in co-operation with Oliver Mahrdt, the local representative of german films for US/Canada. The film was of very high interest because of its unique story, quality and cast. EVA, the worldwide sales agent for “Habermann”, expects to have a deal closed with a US distributor for the film after the film festival in Cannes 2010.
